☼ Prophecy Of Doom - Acknowledge The Confusion Master / Axegrinder - The Rise Of The Serpent Men [original & re-issue] / Prophecy Of Doom - Matrix

by request...
Formed in 1988, Prophecy Of Doom was a Grind / Death Metal band from Tewkesbury, UK. They recorded a few EPs, two full-length albums, the last in 1992 after which the band split up. However, two farewell releases came out in 1996 and 2007.
Axegrinder was a band formed in 1986 in London. They played music heavily influenced by Amebix, and other punk rock bands that had been experimenting with metal riffs and sounds. The bands' tastes were gradually shifting towards metal bands like Voï Vod, Slayer and Celtic Frost. When the 'grindcore' sound became big in the underground, the band finally found its identity. They began playing slow or mid-paced mash-ups of metal and punk riffs, setting them apart from their grindcore contemporaries, and making them an anarcho-punk / crust archetype.

Check out these bonus tracks. Is it just me, or did Axegrinder turn into a Voivod cover band who plays their own songs instead? "Killmention Hatrossology?" -- jeezistcryst, I've heard "influenced by" but this is down right "copied!" ;)
(btw, when i was listening to "Slow Motion Rewind" i kept thinking of Voivod, Zetro-era Exodus, and Virgin Prunes. lol)
