Pure was a power electronics trio comprised of Matthew Bower, Alex Binnie, and Alex Winsor. Like their friends Ramleh, they used guitars instead of synthesizers, as favored by Whitehouse, to create their confrontational wall of noise.

Gorgeous, pulsing free noise, taking the crushing power of Skullflower and smoothing it out with the bliss of Sunroof! Strangled guitar chords, droning and throbbing, becoming more and more machine-like, until the whole thing is a keening, looped mass of distorted grit and vibrating hum, like an industrial Steve Reich, or a noise rock Terry Riley. Caustic and abrasive, but also hypnotic and beautiful.
According to members, there were never any official releases of music by Pure, aside from a handful of compilation appearances... After the break up of the group, Matthew Bower formed the new project Total, and Alex Binnie joined Zos Kia. During this time, Mark Durgan of Birthbiter asked Matthew if he could release material by Pure. Matthew did send him some solo material (basically Total recordings) which were then issued under the Pure name. However, it has been said that those tracks were not representive of the original group or its sound, and is a Pure release in name only... yet in 2007 the 'band' Pure authorized a re-release of sorts, with different song titles claiming they were the correct names... so who knows what the story really is. I don't ;)
