☼ Thee Virginal Brides - Re/collection [March 2009 re-post]

Thee Virginal Brides is a co-operative effort which summons different languages and origins in order to create a dense, mysterious, oppressive and extremely visual drone ambient music. Nation-multiplied and diverse in its approaches, the final result is a body of work intense enough to overcome dis-figuration and consistent enough to survive a spiritual tapestry. Released in an edition of 99 pieces, this release gathers previously unreleased material along with tracks that were only available in even more limited pressings. Industrial tones, boiling rituals, black acid invocations, darkening soundscapes, horrified electronics... what more could you want? Good schtuff!
[i sort of doubt the "99 pieces" bit, because it seems you can buy it off Discogs.com for US$6.00 three years after release date (and it is a CD-R)... but, it is very well worth it! so buy it if you like it. i did!]

Why don't you support the underground instead of downloading ?

I just saw your last post/edit. Thanks for that.

Sold out from the label for quite a while, although it seems like the 2 sellers on Discogs are actual members of the band, so probably your very last chance to get it.

thanks, but i would still like to comment on your comment...

YES, i do think because he lives in mainland China he can get the music for free and does not have to support the underground artists.
why? there are many reasons, but for one, this particular release was very limited, and if the artist/label wanted more support, they would have made unlimited quantities. first 99 with full packaging, but unlimited quantity with photo copied covers or just in a white paper sleeve on a CDR for $2, or whatever. but that's not my point... i just wanted to address that particular point of the argument.
my point is, what about people buying USED copies? that doesn't support the label or the artist! just the seller of the used item. also, not every person who downloads 'a release' would actually BUY 'that release' so it isn't really taking money out of the hands of the label/artist, especially if 'the release' is a limited edition.
also, it's exposure of obscure underground musics. i download stuff by artists i've never heard of before simply because someone is offering it. if i like it, i find it and buy it from the label or artist. if it is only available used from an overpriced seller, i weigh how much i like it with how much it will cost me.
also, does anyone remember College Radio? back in the ’80s, that's how i heard of underground music! i recorded radio shows so i could re-listen to these obscure 'musics' since i was too young to know how to find such things.
anyway, i could go on and on, but it's not like i will change anyone's mind who is already made up.
enjoy,

I guess if the label and/or artists agree that you uploaded their music here on the internet, this can be promotion. If not, this is piracy. So you probably know what you're doing here.

I don't know I am not the label/artist myself. I bought this CD at a concert directly from one of the artists and was only looking for more information when I found this blog and this was not really what I was looking for.
