☼ The Fast Set - Demonstration Cassette

The Fast Set was originally just electronics wizard David Knight. He released a 7" single featuring original composition 'Junction 1' as an A-side and a cover of T Rex's Children of the Revolution on the B-side. This was the very first release on Axis Records, which went on to become the leading independent label 4AD.
In early 1980 vocalist Marc Sebastian Jones and guitarist Peter Farrugia joined up with Dave and together they all formed a band influenced by Kraftwerk, Can, Yellow Magic Orchestra, David Bowie, Roxy Music, Marc Bolan, Bauhaus and Joy Division. The sound they made consisted of lots of electronics, doomy half-spoken vocals and heavily treated guitar.
Deciding to continue under the name Knight had used previously, they recorded some demos and got signed to the label 'Some Bizzare' which was run by futurist DJ Stevo. The Fast Set contributed another T Rex cover, this time King Of The Rumbling Spires, to their label's 'Some Bizzare Album' compilation. The compilation also featured Soft Cell, Depeche Mode, Blancmange and other then unknown artists.
Shortly after the release, Dave and Pete parted company with Marc, and Pete took over on vocals. They were later joined by Brad Day on drums before eventually splitting up. David went on to work with the Shock Headed Peters, Lydia Lunch, Danielle Dax, just to name a few.
This is a cassette of early Fast Set demo tracks.
